Thoroughly Modern Millie!

So we finally opened "Thoroughly Modern Millie"! I am ecstatic because I can not even begin to describe how many hours I spent sewing for this show. Its set in the early 1920's and nothing like the movie with Julie Andrews. I had never seen the movie up until last night, and I had done that on purpose so I would not "steal" any costume ideas. But after watching the first half, I have to admit that my color schemes and styles are very similar. I am sad that the stage version doesn't have the "Tapioca" song, but we do have the "Nutty Cracker Suite" which is just as fun! I found some photos from a dress rehearsal which I am posting, but they don't seem to do the costumes justice. We have had such great feedback from this show and people are comparing us to Broadway! Others are saying that it is the best show they have seen in Bakersfield in a long time, and one woman told me that she never realized how much talent we had in our community and how professional our performance was! I am so excited! Especially since this is the very first musical I have ever performed in, but I will toot my horn a bit and admit I am really proud of this show and the cast. I havent felt this way about a production in a very long time!
